Since launching the Hyundai FC ‘Home Advantage’ initiative, in partnership with Chelsea Football Club, to help budding footballers stay active during the COVID-19 lockdown, we have looked at ways to help you improve your football skills from the comfort of your home.
Chelsea stars Christian Pulisic, Michy Batshuayi and Billy Gilmour came to our help and demonstrated some dribbling and passing drills, which can easily be replicated at home to improve your game. If you missed them, you can watch all the Hyundai FC Home Advantage videos on the Chelsea YouTube channel.
This week, in our ‘Home Advantage: Turning’ video, two special guests from Chelsea FC Women – Beth England and Ramona Bachmann – and Senior Chelsea Foundation coach Andrew Ottley, break down a range of turns and drills that you can use or adapt in your home to improve your ability to turn with the ball.
Grab a ball and get working on your skills as Hyundai FC Home Advantage takes you through a variety of turns including:
· The inside hook
· The outside hook
· The stop
· The stepover
· The Cruyff
· The ‘L’
· The Joe Cole
Have a go and make sure to send us your attempts online using #HyundaiFC.
Home Advantage is part of our Hyundai FC grassroots programme, which has allowed us to impact over 200 grassroots players throughout the UK. However, with the programme on hold, as the nation follows government guidelines to stay at home, we are bringing Hyundai FC to homes across the nation to help you improve your game using the expertise of the Chelsea Foundation coaches and first team players.
Chelsea Foundation international development manager Ian Woodroffe said:
“Being able to control and turn with the ball effectively is a fundamental skill for any young footballer that wants to take their game to the next level. That is why this week’s video focuses on the importance with turning with the ball through a series of easy drills that kids can practice at home. We really want young players to utilise their free time at home in a constructive way and Home Advantage is a fantastic tool to help them keep practicing at home.”
