We’ve partnered with the Chelsea FC Foundation to launch Hyundai FC - a flagship grassroots football initiative to support junior football clubs up and down the country.
From Southampton to Durham, Hyundai FC is made up of 11 grassroots clubs ranging from under-8s to under-15s, each of which we will profile throughout 2019. The next team to introduce is Anstey Nomads.
Team name: Anstey Nomads
Location: Anstey, Leicestershire
Age group: Under-13 Girls
Coach: Kay Calvert
Anstey Nomads Under-13 Girls team are from Anstey in Leicestershire and are a formidable side. They are coached by Kay Calvert and are sponsored by local Hyundai dealership, Sturgess Loughborough.
Back in May the team travelled down to Stamford Bridge, where they took part in football drills led by Chelsea Foundation coaches on the famous pitch as well as a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium.
The Chelsea Foundation coaches visited Anstey Nomads in June to give them a few more tips and tricks and to help develop the skills the players learnt at Stamford Bridge, taking the team on a bespoke coaching session ahead of the new season.
Speaking about the team and the Hyundai FC initiative, Anstey Nomads coach and club secretary, Kay Calvert said: “Watching the girls grow and develop has been the best thing about being a football coach. I’ve been with them for six years now and watching them go from chasing a ball around to very competent players is a joy.”
“Hyundai FC has been fantastic so far. It’s great that the girls have been able to play on the Stamford Bridge pitch. The Chelsea FC Foundation coaches have been brilliant and we’ve learnt a lot about all the different drills they’ve taught us.”

Throughout 2019, each of the Hyundai FC clubs will receive support including further Chelsea Foundation coaching sessions, an opportunity for the coaches to watch Chelsea teams train at Cobham and bespoke Nike kits.
