We’ve partnered with the Chelsea FC Foundation to launch Hyundai FC - a flagship grassroots football initiative, supporting 11 junior football clubs up and down the country.
In September, we gave our Hyundai FC coaches the unique opportunity to come down to Chelsea Football Club’s training ground in Cobham to meet the players and take part in immersive coach education sessions.
The day got off to an exciting start when the coaches were treated to a surprise Q&A session with legendary former Chelsea goalkeeper and club ambassador, Carlo Cudicini. After picking Carlo’s brains, the coaches to head over to the main training pitch where they settled down to watch Frank Lampard prepare his team for that weekend’s away game against Brighton.
Hyundai FC coaches got the chance to meet some of Chelsea’s biggest stars in a meet-and-greet signing session with the first team and Frank Lampard himself. The coaches walked away having met the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
"I’m a Chelsea supporter so it’s a dream come true for me – seeing the first team train was incredible. I’ll take away a lot from it; simple things that can make a big difference. The ball hardly went in the air, for example. I’ve already been trying to use some of the drills that I’ve seen and thought were a great idea."

It was then time to hit the classroom for a coaching education workshop with the Chelsea Academy and Foundation coaching staff. During the session the coaches were able to develop their grassroots session plans and make adjustments based on feedback and their experience of the Chelsea session earlier that day.
The day finished up back at the training pitch, where our Hyundai FC group were able to watch a Chelsea Academy team training session. Led by the Chelsea coaches who have been working with Hyundai FC, our coaches were able to see them in action and understand how they implement key learnings into their sessions. The invaluable experience gave our Hyundai FC coaches lots to take home to their junior football teams.
“Our open training session held at the Chelsea FC training ground was a fantastic opportunity for us to further the level of support offered to the coaches who are putting in the hard work every single week to offer young footballers in their area the chance to take part in fun & enjoyable football sessions. Our aim is to ultimately help improve the experience and enjoyment they offer to their players when they return to their respective clubs.”
