On The Road: FIFA Women's World Cup

We teamed up with Layla Anna-Lee and The XO’s Laurence McKenna, for the ultimate road trip through France at the FIFA Women’s World Cup

Layla and Laurence headed across the Channel in a Hyundai Tucson, as they took in the sights and sounds of this summer’s showpiece sporting event, as well as some of the biggest games of the group stages… the dream road trip for any football fan.

Travelling over a thousand miles, attending four games, through five cities across six days, the pair drove through the heart of France, meeting fans from across the globe whilst taking in iconic landmarks and impressive stadia.

Their trip included a visit to the FIFA Museum in Paris and a behind-the-scenes tour of the impressive Stade du Lyon ahead of the FIFA WWC Final this weekend, before a drive down the iconic Napoleon’s Route to watch The Lionesses in Nice, all whilst speaking to fellow fans along the way who had also made the trip to support their heroes. From Le Havre to Nice, there was no shortage of passionate football fans and the team were in the crowd for one of the best attended games of the tournament so far, USA v Chile in Paris.

Whilst there are many stars of the game taking part in the tournament, the duo got to see some of Chelsea’s biggest names in action, including England’s Fran Kirby, Millie Bright and Carly Telford, as well as international stars Ji So-Yun and Maren Mjelde.

During Layla and Laurence’s road trip, we also offered one lucky fan, and three friends, the opportunity of a lifetime to win their own road trip, also driving through France in a Hyundai Tucson to this year’s final at the Stade du Lyon, as part of our ongoing For The Fans campaign.
