As an official partner of Chelsea FC, Hyundai teamed up with Blues super-fan George Benson to go an epic European road trip ahead of Chelsea’s UEFA Europa League tie against Hungarian club MOL Vidi FC.
Beginning his journey at the home of Chelsea, Stamford Bridge, George’s four-day road trip saw him travel over 1,000 miles and through five countries in a Hyundai Santa Fe before arriving in Budapest to support his beloved Chelsea away from home.
On the trip, George relived Chelsea’s greatest European night in Munich at the Allianz Arena alongside Bayern Munich fan Mark Lovall before meeting members of local community team, Buntkiktgut, and putting his football skills to the test.
Joined by fellow Chelsea fan, Savage Dan, George’s trip then took him through the dramatic scenery of the Alps and onto Salzburg and Vienna. The final step of the journey, Budapest, involved a meeting with Tibor and David, the Chairman and President of the Hungarian Chelsea Supporters Club, who gave George a taste of being a Blue in Budapest.
George said “It’s been an absolute whirlwind On The Road this week with Chelsea and Hyundai. Meeting the kids at Buntkickgut, driving through the Alps and checking in with the Hungarian Chelsea fans were special moments but the highlight has to be standing on the spot where Didier Drogba scored that famous winning penalty. That will long live in the memory. I’m buzzing to be in Budapest for the final Europa League Group fixture against Vidi. There’s something special about driving to a European away day and I’ve really enjoyed driving the Santa Fe - super reliable Sat Nav, heated seating that came in handy in the Alps and a ridiculously cool head on display. It promises to be an exciting end to the group campaign with Vidi still having qualification to play for. Come on Chelsea!”
